By Sean Martin & Marco Ciappelli
It has become an ITSPmagazine tradition to start our InfoSec Europe Conference coverage with what we call Chats On The Clouds To InfoSec Europe. We connect with conference keynote speakers, presenters, panelists and organizers to start the conversation way before anyone else does.
During these conversations, we get a sneak peek into what they are planning to share at the conference as well as a glimpse into their backgrounds and some additional insight on the topics they will discuss.
ITSPmagazine coverage, podcasts, webcasts, articles, and all our happenings during InfoSec Europe 2019 is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors. We are ever so grateful for your support.
Have a story to share and want to join us for the journey? We invite you to discover the benefit of the full coverage sponsorship and let us know if you are interested in joining us for our adventures. We look forward to another exciting conference.
Remember that last cybersecurity conference, privacy summit, or local infosec meetup you recently attended? Did you stop to think for a moment that there was a team of people that made it possible? Chances are, you didn’t; in fact, a clear sign of a well-executed event is one where you don’t notice the back-of-house and behind-the-scenes activities. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take a moment to recognize what’s required to pull these things together. We want you to do just that — take a moment to think about what it takes and then take another moment to thank someone for the work they are doing to bring us all together. These events don’t just magically turn on to become a shiny and sparkly venue the moment you walk in. In fact, the bigger the program, the bigger the crowd of people it takes to make it happen; days, weeks, months, sometimes years in the making.
With this, Marco Ciappelli and Sean Martin would like to thank today’s guest, Nicole Mills, the exhibition director for Infosecurity Europe, for taking time out of her day to share with us what we can expect during the 24th edition of the summit taking place in the Olympia, London.
With more than 12 months invested in planning and organizing going into this year’s event, attendees will be treated to 10 stages with talks taking place all day, every day, over 400 exhibitors with demonstrations and hands-on activities, and networking events within and outside the conference center.
“The breadth of the program is immense and you should be bringing your whole team along as there is something for everybody”
“You are touching on everything that is relevant: it is quite impressive!”
Here are some of the highlights from the event as provided by Nicole:
Opening Keynote: Perspectives from the Frontline: Managing Risk & Building Resilience with former BBC Chief News Reporter Kate Adie
Bringing and maintaining the human element of InfoSec with diversity and inclusion throughout information security (1/2 day session: Women in Cybersecurity)
Hosted by Infosecurity Magazine Editor Eleanor Dallaway, the event includes an inspirational keynote presentation by Dr Sue Black entitled ‘If I can do it, so can you’, a panel discussion and lots of Q&A and networking.
How to tackle threats at small- and medium-sized businesses (half-day session: Securing SMEs Symposium)
Supporting people in their careers to help address the talent gap (~full-day session: FutureSec)
Building cyber resilience in critical infrastructure (half-day session: Cybersecurity for CNI & II Symposium)
For the geeks, there is a Geek Street and a SANS-led event with an escape room and capture the flag
The Infosecurity Hall of Fame: Troy Hunt will be inducted this year and will be giving a talk during the event (Rise of the Breaches)
“Sometimes we can lose ourselves in the planning and process and everything else, so it’s really nice to talk to you. You’ve got me very excited about next week.”
“It’s important what you do. These events bring people together and help raise awareness.”
Listen in to hear more about the event that has a lot of something for everyone. And, if you have a moment while on-site at the event, thank Nicole, and her extended team, for their hard work bringing us all together to help each live a victorious and healthy InfoSec Life.
