Data Privacy Day 2020 | With NCSA
Millions of people are unaware of and uninformed about how their personal information is being used, collected or shared in our digital society. Data Privacy Day aims to inspire dialogue and empower individuals and companies to take action.

Here we are. The industry didn’t self-regulate, so governments all around the world have been forced to step in to protect us from the “evil” corporations looking to use and abuse our personal information for their financial gain.
Will the laws help and how long will it take companies to do the right thing? Or will they simply do what they need to do to meet the letter of the law? And, if so, what “letter” and what laws will they meet?
Sadly, we don’t have the answers to any of these questions yet—as only time will tell.
It’s in cases like this that my co-founder, Marco Ciappelli, and I like to power on the ITSPmagazine time machine to look at what the future holds. For this is a special occasion, I’ve asked Marco to turn the ignition key for us as he joins us remotely from Italy, giving all of us an opportunity to take a journey with some fellow time travelers.
Together, we get a sneak peek into future of privacy—a future that extends beyond the regulations; beyond compliance. Our goal with this conversation is to help us as citizens—AND us as organizations—navigate what is turning out to be the Wild Wild West of privacy legislation.
Who are the time travelers? I’m glad you asked. Let’s meet them…
