A Their Story interview with Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli
Guests: Karim Hijazi and Adam Flatley, Prevailion
The organization telling us their story today is Prevailion.
Chapter 2
Leading the charge for Continuous Compromise Intelligence Monitoring
After learning about the vision and the story behind Prevailion in chapter one, it is now time to find out what happened between then and now and, maybe, where we will go with chapter three.
In today's Podcast, Karim and Adam join the conversation to tell us about how they are leading the charge for Continuous Compromise Intelligence Monitoring — even creating such category — and how the data collection and research they have been doing connect their platform directly to the dark underbelly of cybercrime and the compromised and malicious devices that give the criminals the ability to do the wrong things they do.
To help industries and society understand what's going on in the world of compromise intelligence, they have created an inaugural APEX report which presents their findings in an easily consumable fashion.
As often happens during these stories, we didn't have enough time to discuss all that we wanted to, but we think we were able to capture the essence and the relevance of the report.
In short:
Data shows that some (many?) of your business partners are currently experiencing a breach, whether they know it or not
The data analysis is presented with a view for what cyber weapons (malware) are being used to conduct the crime, leading from the criminals' command-and-control systems right into the organizations' systems — not just the specific targets have been victimized and compromised
Data shows that malicious activity is making its way through all of the many layers of security defenses at many companies; if it's making it into this report, it's already made it through multiple gates that have been put in place by the company's security team
It's one thing to have data; another thing to turn that data into information, and still, another to turn that information into knowledge-driven actions and decisions
The question for you as you listen to this conversation is: “are you zeroing in on what matters for your entire business ecosystem, or are you stuck in a world where updating patches, changing firewall rules, and running AV scans is still your top priority?”
Hit play and enjoy!
